Most people who walk into a showroom asking about a Toyota Prado already know the badge. What they don't know is why two 2021 Prados can sit KES 100,000 apart in the wrong direction, or why a 2019 with 60,000 km costs more than a million less than a 2021 with 20,000 km. Prices on used cars in Nairobi look random until you line the listings up side by side.
So that's what this post does. The figures below come from the Toyota Prado listings on our own stock page, and they will move as cars sell, so treat them as a snapshot, not a quote.
What Used Prados Are Listed At Right Now
All of these are 2.8L diesels listed as available. The 2021 car with 20,000 km is a 7-seat automatic, and the other listings carry their own spec lines.

Read the Price Gaps, Not Just the Prices
Look at the last two rows. The 2021 with 63,000 km is listed above the 2021 with 20,000 km. Mileage alone doesn't explain that. Trim, options and condition do. The 20,000 km car is a white 7-seater with leather, a sunroof, cooled and heated seats, a power tailgate and a reverse camera, and the other listing may carry a different spec.
That's not a flaw in the pricing. It's a reason to open both listings and compare the feature lists line by line before you decide which one is "the cheaper one."
The jump from 2019 to 2020 is the biggest step in the table, roughly KES 900,000 to KES 1,000,000. If your budget sits just under KES 7 million, the 2019 diesels are where you'll be looking.
What the Listing Tells You (and What It Doesn't)
Each of our vehicle pages shows year, mileage, engine, transmission, drive, seats, accident history and whether import duty has been paid. On the 2021 Prado diesel, for example, the page shows no accident history, import duty paid, and a note that the price is negotiable.
It also says service history is not available. That's worth saying out loud, because it's the question most buyers forget to ask. A foreign-used car often arrives without a full service record. Ask what was checked on the car when it came in, and bring your own mechanic if you want a second opinion. We're fine with that.
Prado or Mazda CX5?

The Prado costs roughly double. You pay that for the seven seats and the larger diesel. If you don't need three rows, the CX5 is a lot less money for a lot of daily use. If you do, the question answers itself.
