There are thousands of used cars for sale in Nairobi at any given moment. Finding one isn't hard. The hard part is knowing whether the one in front of you is honestly priced, properly imported and worth the money, and doing it without losing three Saturdays to yards that don't answer the phone.
We sell foreign-used and luxury cars from two showrooms in Nairobi, at Two Rivers and on Kiambu Road. This is the process we'd want a friend to follow, whether they buy from us or not.
The seven steps at a glance
| Step | What you do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Set a budget | Decide your all-in figure, not just the sticker price | At home |
| 2. Shortlist online | Filter by make, model, year and price | Our vehicles page |
| 3. Read the listing properly | Check mileage, engine, duty status, accident history | Each car's page |
| 4. Book a viewing | Pick a showroom and a time | Two Rivers or Kiambu Road |
| 5. Inspect and test drive | Look, listen, drive | Showroom |
| 6. Agree the price and reserve | Negotiate, then reserve the car | With our sales team |
| 7. Pay, register, transfer | Payment, then the logbook transfer | With our sales team |
Step 1: Budget for the whole car, not the price tag
Your number should cover the car plus insurance, a first service, and anything you want to fix or add. If you're financing, the deposit and the monthly figure matter more than the headline price. Our guide to planning car finance in Kenya covers that part.
Step 2: Shortlist from listings with real prices
We list prices in the open. Right now we have 114 cars listed, from a 2019 Nissan Dayz at KSh 1,250,000 to a 2022 Range Rover Vogue First Edition at KSh 32,000,000. You can filter by make, model, year of manufacture, price range and currency.
Pick three cars, not ten. If you're unsure what your budget buys, see used cars in Nairobi by budget.
Step 3: Read the listing like a buyer, not a browser
Every listing on our site has a details section. Here's what to look at, using a real example, our 2021 Toyota Prado Diesel:
| Field | What it says | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Mileage | 20,000 km | Compare against other cars the same year |
| Engine | 2,800 cc diesel | Affects running costs and insurance |
| Source | Foreign used | Imported, not previously registered in Kenya |
| Import duty paid | Yes | You're not inheriting a duty bill |
| Accident history | No | Ask how it was checked |
| Service history | Not available | Common on foreign-used cars, so inspect carefully |
| Price negotiable | Yes | There's room to talk |
| Stock ID | GD9396 | Quote it when you enquire |
That "service history: not available" line is honest, and you'll see it often on foreign-used cars. It means the inspection in Step 5 matters even more.
Step 4: Book a viewing at a showroom near you
We have two locations: Southern Office Tower at Two Rivers on Limuru Road, and near Motorhub on Kiambu Road. We're open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Book ahead so the car is ready, charged and cleaned when you arrive. You can book from any listing, or message us on WhatsApp with the stock ID.
Step 5: Inspect and test drive
Bring someone who knows cars, or your own mechanic. Look for uneven panel gaps, fresh paint on just one panel, and warning lights at start-up. Check the tyres too, and that every button and seat adjustment works. Drive it on a rough stretch and at highway speed. Ask any question you like. If a dealer won't let you bring a mechanic, walk away.
Step 6: Agree the price, then reserve
Where a listing is marked negotiable, make a sensible offer based on mileage and condition. Once you agree, you can reserve the car. Our FAQ page explains how reservation works.
Step 7: Pay, register and transfer
We take several payment methods, and our FAQs cover each one, plus hire purchase and bank finance. After payment comes registration and the transfer of ownership. Ask us for the expected timeline on your specific car before you pay, so you know when you'll drive it home.
Don't see the exact car?
If the year, colour or spec you want isn't in stock, we can import it for you from Japan, the UK, Australia, South Africa or Singapore. See Import to order or buy from stock? to decide which suits you.
The best used cars for sale in Nairobi are the ones you've seen, driven and checked yourself. Shortlist three on our vehicles page, then call +254 116 101 111, WhatsApp us, or email sales@elevenmotorske.com to book a viewing.
